PÉCS CONFERENCE AND CONCERT CENTER
Plan
2007
25,000 m2
Pécs

In the plan which won priority purchase in the international tender in the framework of the “Pécs 2010 European Capital of Culture” programme, our practice offered a solution to form an integral part of the city’s natural and architectural heritage, suitable for conferences, balls, receptions but even chamber-type events complying with the requirements of the 21st century, but which may also operate as a concert hall or theatre. The multifunctional nature of the halls is coupled with quality stage and acoustical technology which is flexible, easy-to-change and makes parallel events possible using a little number of elements only. The main spaces of the building have active visual connection to the neighbouring Balokány Grove. The key virtue of the concept is in creating a multi-functional hall shape without making compromises regarding the concert hall function.
